¿Cómo dirías en inglés que son dos en la foto?

Traducir el verbo “ser” al inglés debería ser una las traducciones más fáciles que hay. Sin embargo, como hemos visto ya muchas veces en este blog, hay muchos españoles que siguen equivocándose una y otra vez. Vamos a ver exactamente cuál es el fallo en el caso del texto de la imagen.

Cuando uno piensa en contar gente con el verbo ser, suele decir frases “automáticas” en spanglish del tipo:
– Son dos personas en la imagen
-*They are two people in the photo.

En inglés, cuando se utiliza el verbo “to be” en este caso, hay que emplear la estructura “there is” o “there are”. De tal modo que la frase correcta en inglés sería:

-There are two people in the photo.

Hay que tener mucho cuidado cuando, por ejemplo, queremos decir en inglés que somos tres para cenar:

*we are three for dinner. (absoluto Spanglish)

La traducción correcta sería: “There are 3 of us for dinner”.
