En inglés hay diferentes usos del verbo “Do”. Como verbo principal significa “hacer” y hay que diferenciarlo bien del verbo “to make”, ya que es muy fácil confundirlos si no se tiene clara la diferencia. Pero ésta os la explicaremos en detalle en otra publicación de nuestro blog. En el post de Touch English de hoy vamos a ver los diferentes usos del verbo “Do” en sus funciones de auxiliar.
La función básica del verbo auxiliar «Do» es la de crear los tiempos gramaticales para diferenciar el presente y el pasado en interrogaciones y negaciones. Veamos algunos ejemplos. Let’s go!
- Frases Interrogativas.
La estructura se realiza de la siguiente manera: Do (does) + Sujeto + VerboDo you study English every day? (Presente Simple)
– Does she speak English? (Presente Simple en tercera persona del singular).
– Did you go on holiday last summer? (Pasado Simple)
- Frases negativas.
En este caso la estructura es la siguiente: Sujeto + don’t (o didn’t) + Verbo
– We don’t understand the example in the book. (Presente Simple)
– I didn’t like her shoes (Pasado Simple)
- Énfasis en frases afirmativas.
Para enfatizar estas frases la estructura es: Sujeto + do (does) + Verbo
– They do love visiting us in the summer holidays.
– I do like drinking coffee.
- Frases imperativas.
Las frases imperativas se estructuran de la siguiente manera: Do + Verbo (No hay sujeto)
– Do be quiet.
– Don’t go there.
